Ty MacEachern is a drummer, composer, and music educator based in Truro, Nova Scotia. As an experienced freelancer, Ty has collaborated with many of Canada’s leading jazz musicians and has perfromed at numerous venues throughout the Maritimes. With a strong background in jazz, rock, and popular music, he has performed in a wide range of ensembles and musical settings.
Ty is currently recording and performing with artists such as PRINCESS, Greg Carroll and the Misdemeanors, SLEEPOVER CINEMA, Gasper, and Slander, while regularly playing jazz throughout the Maritimes. Known for his creative approach to drumming, Ty combines techniques such as pitch bending and rhythmic ideas like odd groupings, which reflect his diverse musical influences and distinctive voice.
Beyond performance, Ty contributes to the music community as a private instructor, masterclass clinician, event organizer, and audio engineer. He currently teaches both privately on a per-client basis and through Long & McQuade in Truro.
He earned his Bachelor of Music (Honours) from St. Francis Xavier University in 2025 and continues to grow as both a performer and educator.
